This was the second day in a row that I woke up feeling very thirsty. I had a glass of water right before bed last night, and it only helped a bit. But at least today I did not wake up before it was time to get up. Tonight I’ll have a pint of water before going to sleep, and see if that helps.
Otherwise I felt great throughout the day.
Today I had:
Meal #1 @ 8:00am
I made another large green smoothie this morning. I had 32oz in the morning, and put the remaining 10oz in the fridge for later. The smoothie consisted of:
- 7 romaine leaves
- 1 stalk of celery
- 3 bananas
- 10oz of strawberries, frozen
- 1 tablespoon of hemp seeds
- water
Even though this smoothie had a lot of fruit in it, it was a little bitter. Romaine is normally quite mild, but it was not very fresh, so that might have been the reason for the bitter taste.
With all the extra fruit in this smoothie, my digestive system was not bothered at all.
Meal #2 @ 12:30pm
For lunch I had the leftovers from last night’s dinner – raw zucchini pasta with marinara sauce.
Meal #3 @ 6:30pm
Last week I made some hummus and avocado wraps using collard greens instead of tortillas. When out shopping the other day, I noticed that the store carries raw wraps, which are made from dehydrated tomatoes, flax, herbs and spices. These wraps are not as flexible as tortillas, but still “wrappable”. They look like this:

So, tonight I decided to whip up a batch of my sweet zucchini hummus. I combined the following in the food processor:
- 1 zucchini
- 2 tablespoons of raw tahini
- 3 medjool dates, pitted and soaked for 10 minutes
- lemon juice, from 1 lemon
- 1 clove of garlic
- 1/4 teaspoon of cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon of paprika
- a pinch of salt
Raw tahini is quite bitter, but the dates add enough sweetness, that even though a bit of the bitter taste remains, this hummus is awesome.
I then spread the hummus on the wraps, added avocado, and alfalfa sprouts:

And rolled the wraps:

When I first tasted the wrap only, I was not too happy, but luckily my first impression was way off. This was one of the better raw meals I’ve had, behind only my “Delicious Chocolate Smoothie/Pudding” and the zucchini pasta with marinara.
The only downside to this meal is that these wraps have about twice the calories a tortilla has. This entire meal was probably about 800 calories – had I realized it sooner, I would have taken it easy on my snacks throughout the day. Well, you live, you learn
And talking about snacks, today I had:
- 1 macaroon
- half a bag of kale tempuraw
- 4 red grapes
- 2 kiwi fruit
- 3 dates
On to day 20…

Oh, just wait until you find out tomorrow what that flax wrap does to your digestive system tomorrow!
Whatever it is, let’s hope it will be mild
I do not think it had a lot of flax – actually, they were ground, I looked at the label just now and it says flax meal. It certainly did not feel all greasy and yucky like those flax crackers I tried.
But it’s been three hours and I feel as stuffed as I felt after this meal:

Wow, it sounds like you are really doing great. We eat a lot of raw, but we don’t worry much about also mixing in some cooked food.
The wraps look interesting – like that word? I’d like to try them, but I have never seen raw wraps in our stores.
