Today was another lazy day, as far as the raw lifestyle goes.
Although I have been planning to make a recipe that I had not tried before, I decided to take it easy instead. This decision was partially prompted by a quick survey of the content of my fridge, which resulted in a realization that I still have a few store bought pre-made entrees. As the expiration dates on those are quickly approaching, it was time to act, so to speak
I am still feeling great eating raw, although I have noticed a bit of a worrisome trend. It appears that I have been snacking more and more into the evening as my raw food trial has progressed. I realized that as I was chewing on a handful of raisins just a short while ago – at 9:30pm.
When eating cooked vegan diet, I would not normally have anything this late, especially if it was something this sweet.
I think I will need to increase the calories, or at least the volume, of my evening meal. Hopefully that will take care of the snacking.
Today I had:
Meal #1 @ 12:30pm
I started the day with a green smoothie (36oz) made from:
- 4 large collard leaves
- 2 medium stalks of celery
- 3 bananas
- 10 oz of strawberries, frozen
- 1 tablespoon of hemp seeds
- water
I thought today I’d take a shot of a before as opposed to an after of a smoothie making process
Green smoothie ingredients
This was a great tasting smoothie. The flavor of strawberries pretty much took over and it tasted more like a milkshake than a green smoothie. This is a perfect combination to take in some collard greens without the bitter taste they can introduce.
Great for green smoothie novices, too.
Meal #2 @ 2:30pm
To clear my fridge of the pre-made foods, for lunch I had a raw “pizza”.

Meal #3 @ 6:45pm
And for dinner, I had raw lasagna.

Both of the pre-made meals were good.
My snacks today were:
- 12 chlorella tablets
- handful of green grapes
- 1 raw macaroon
- 2 handfuls of goji berries
- half a pound of strawberries
- handful of raisins
On to day 17…
